TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – 20-year-old Rachael Murray is a survivor. In August of 2012, just weeks before the start of her senior year in high school, she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
“I was having a really hard time breathing. I was having asthma-like symptoms,” Murray said.
A cat scan revealed a mass in Rachael’s chest which led to her being treated at “The Melodies Center” at Albany Med. The Center is a very unique place and the staff quickly realized they had someone very special.
“It’s very hard to have a bad day when think of kids like Rachael,” said a Rebecca Nunziato, R.N.
Now cancer free, our Capital Hero is paying it forward. Rachael created the “#Trending4Fashion” fashion show. By filling the catwalk with her fellow survivors, doctors and nurses from ‘The Melodies Center’ she’s generating tens of thousands of dollars to benefit that very special place.
“What better place to funnel the money back into than a place that saved my life,” said Murray.
The Ithaca College student is busy planning the 4th annual “#Trending4fashion” event for June 14th at Brown’s Revolution Hall in Troy. Doors open at 5:30 and the show starts at 7:00 p.m.
