SCHENECTADY, NY (NEWS10) -Just before 4 o’clock Saturday afternoon, Schenectady Police were sent to Germania Street after multiple people called 911 saying they heard gunshots.

“Officers arrived on scene found a victim with gunshot inside of a vehicle that was parked on the side of the road”, said Schenectady Police spokesman Lieutenant Mark.

The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Marquel Fallen of Schenectady. Police said Fallen was shot several times in the torso.

Fallen was treated on scene by first responders and then taken to Ellis Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Lt. McCracken told me the car Fallen was shot in is being examined for evidence.

“The car has been secured and is currently being safeguarded by police”, said McCracken.

As far as suspects or witnesses, police won’t comment other than that they are investigating.

“Can’t comment on whether or not we have witnesses but we are talking with people who have direct or indirect knowledge”, said Lt. McCracken.

I talked to neighbors who didn’t want to go on camera. They said they heard at least five loud pops.

They said when they realized what the noise was they called police.

“The events that led up to the individual’s death is under investigation right now”, said Lt. McCracken.
