ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Downtown Albany is celebrating the grand opening of the Steuben Street Market Thursday morning.
However, it’s already open for business, and NEWS10ABC’s Heather Kovar is already giving us a preview!
According to the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District, since September, 135 residential units have become available Downtown Albany. 100 of them are under construction. And until now – there hasn’t been a fresh market.
“We only juice organic produce because we really want to make sure all the vitamins and minerals are all there,” said Charissa Pratt, manager of Steuben St. Market.
Charissa pratt is manager of the Steuben Street Market, now open on North Pearl. Along with juice, smoothies and coffee, it also has a deli and grocery.
“My concept really for this whole place is to bring fresh products to Downtown Albany while supporting local businesses,” said Charissa.
A number of local and regional products are available, as well as some items from owner Chris Pratt’s four other restaurants, the Barrel Saloon, the Capital, Pearl Street Pub and Public House 42.
“Everything we make here is from either sourced locally as much as we can or made in house,” said Chris Pratt. “All of our soups all of our salads are made right on premise nothing is brought in out of a can, frozen out of a box any of that,” he continued.
For those living and working downtown, it’s an amenity that’s been missing and is expected to help in the current downtown revitalization.
