POTTSTOWN, PA (WTNH)– A pregnant woman died after shoveling snow outside her home in Pennsylvania over the weekend.
The Epoch Times reports that 18-year-old Briahna Gerloff was shoveling with her younger brother outside her home in Pottstown, Pennsylvania on Saturday, before she was found unconscious on the floor.
After a family member and neighbor tried to perform CPR on her, Gerloff, who was eight months pregnant, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Gerloff’s family says she suffered from heart defects and Wolff-Parkinson White Syndrome, which the Mayo Clinic describes as “a syndrome in which an extra electrical pathway in the heart causes a rapid heartbeat.”
A Go Fund Me page set up for the teen says she passed away “as well as her daughter. Her family now has to deal with all the emotional stress of losing Briahna & Kayliana, but in two short months it will be three years since Briahna’s mother passed away.”
Her town is holding a candlelight vigil for her next week.
