Police: Guilderland woman accused of collecting more than $30,000 in welfare benefits

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A Guilderland woman is facing charges after police say she received tens of thousands of dollars in welfare benefits she wasn’t entitled to.

Albany County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 38-year-old Amanda Dray.

They say she collected $31,448 in benefits since March 2013, but never reported her income from her job with the Schenectady City School District.

Police say she also failed to report the income of her children’s father, who she lives with.

She was arrested and charged with grand larceny, welfare fraud and three counts of offering a false instrument for filing.

She was arraigned and released.
