Under a tax package to be voted on in the Senate on Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, Broadway and live theater productions would be given the same benefits that have long been afforded to TV and film productions. Sen. Charles Schumer, who has been working on the tax break for four years, said the change would create more jobs for actors and backstage workers, and produce more shows nationwide, giving a shot in the arm to the hotel, restaurant and taxi industries.
