Police: Whitehall woman accused of welfare fraud

WHITEHALL, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Police say a Washington County woman is being accused of stealing over $4,000 in benefits she was not entitled to.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office they’ve arrested 32-year-old Danielle Prosser of Whitehall.

The arrest is the result of an investigation into a complaint filed by the Washington County Department of Socials Services; accusing Prosser filed applications for services and failed to disclose her husbands’ employment on her applications.

As a result police say she received $4,301.10 in benefits that she was not entitled to.

Prosser has been charged with Welfare Fraud in the Fourth Degree, Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree and Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree all class E felonies.

Prosser was released pending prosecution in the Fort Edward Town Court.

The Washington County DSS Welfare Fraud Investigations unit assisted in the investigation.
