GENESEO , N.Y. (NEWS10) – New details have been revealed as police in Western New York investigate a crime at a house next to SUNY Geneseo.
Police said two students were stabbed to death by a 24-year-old former student who was distraught over a recent breakup.
Police said Colin Kingston entered the apartment of his ex-girlfriend, 21-year-old Kelsey Annese, before 6 a.m. Sunday morning. Kingston found her with another student, 24-year-old Matthew Hutchinson, of Vancouver B.C.
Police said Kingston killed them both with a large knife.
Investigators said the former Geneseo student called his father before turning the knife on himself. Police said his father contacted authorities, which led officers to discover all three bodies.
“There was some indication Mr. Kingston was certainly upset with the recent breakup,” authorities said. “He made some suicidal comments to several people but no actual threats to harm Ms. Annese or anyone else. We don’t know what he was thinking as he entered the place.”
Hutchinson played hockey for the school and was a volunteer firefighter. Annese was a member of the basketball team.
She wore the number 32, which was the same number her father wore when he played for the school.
