ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) – The Homeless and Travelers Aid Society also known as HATAS will be issuing a Cold Blue alert for Monday January 18th through Sunday January 24th.
Since Monday is Martin Luther King Day, many traditional places where the homeless go may be closed.
Extreme cold night-time temperatures are expected this week so take extra precaution.
Homeless persons can go to the Capital City Rescue Mission at 259 South Pearl St., the Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless Safe Haven at 26 South Swan Street, or the Council of Churches Overflow Shelter at 646 State Street 12203.
During the day, the homeless can also seek assistance at the Homeless and Travelers Aid Society at 138 Central Avenue 12206.
In keeping with the Governor’s Order, the trigger for a Code Blue is now 32 degrees or less, including wind chill.
