Knights of Columbus holds free-throw competition for young kids

COHOES, NY (NEWS10) – The Knights of Columbus Catholic Organization invited boys and girls from the ages of 9-14 to do their best in a free-throw competition.

Over a dozen competitors showed off their skills at the Cohoes Community Center.

Here is the list of winners that will now advance to a district competition and possibly even States, which will be held at West Point this year:

Torie Dodge, 9-year-old girl from Cohoes

Charlie Gendron, 9-year-old boy from Cohoes

McKenzie Devoe, 10-year-old girl from Cohoes

David White, 10-year-old boy from Cohoes

Kyle Church, 12 years old boy from Averill Park

Two 10-year-olds, who are usually teammates, were friendly competitors on Saturday.

“We shot free throws, we had to go into a shootout because we tied and won”, said free throw competitors Mckenzie Devoe and Julia Marcil.

Last year, the Knights of Columbus held more than 3,600 of these competitions, which brought in 120,000 participants.
