ALBANY, NY – Officials say a man who attacked another with a hatchet after a concert at the Washington Avenue Armory has been sentenced to prison.
According to police, 20-year-old Houston Brown of New Windsor was sentenced to 11 years in State Prison, to be followed by 5 years of post-release supervision in Albany County Court.
On November 16 police say Brown pleaded guilty to one Count of Attempted Assault in the First Degree, a Class C Violent Felony.
Police say on January 31 at approximately 2:15 a.m., in the area of the intersection of Lark Street and Chestnut Street, Brown did attack a man with a hatchet. At the same time his co-defendant, Cornelius Williams, beat the man with a wooden cane.
Police say the victim suffered from several lacerations which required emergency surgery to stop the bleeding in his leg. This incident occurred after a concert at the Washington Avenue Armory.
Williams was previously sentenced for his role in the assault to 5 years in State Prison, to be followed by 3 years of Post-Release Supervision.
