POLICE: Victim identified in deadly Columbia Turnpike crash

EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Police have identified the pedestrian killed Monday afternoon on Columbia Turnpike in front of the town’s wastewater treatment plant.

Early Tuesday morning, police released identified the pedestrian as 50-year-old Paul Greene of Rensselaer.

The driver who hit him, 57-year-old Alfred Allgood, is still in the hospital.

Witnesses told police that Allgood veered off the road, ran over several road signs and hit Greene who was walking along the road shoulder before crashing into a wooded area.

The accident is still under investigation. Anyone who may have seen the crash is asked to contact East Greenbush Police.
