NEW YORK, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Tonight’s the big night, we are getting ready to say goodbye to 2015 and hello to 2016.
With all the festivities comes a lot of security in an effort to combat terror threats from overseas.
Millions of people are expected to ring in the New Year in Times Square Thursday night and police aren’t taking any chances.
Any possible threat from overseas is being taken very seriously; authorities are warning of possible attacks in New York, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.
Six thousand officers will be deployed across New York City, specifically.
There will also be helicopters, boat patrols and hundreds of extra mobile cameras and radiation detectors.
It’s not just the Big Apple where security will be tight. Extra officers will be on hand for the Rose Bowl Parade and the game itself.
