Record number of travelers expected to take to the roads

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – There is no place like home for the holidays, but getting home could be a headache as roads are expected to be extra crowded this week.

If anyone is heading out this morning, take it slow! My photographer and i drove through a blanket of fog to get here.

Once that lifts, the weather should be relatively problem-free for drivers.

That alone is likely a major reason AAA is expecting record numbers for travel this holiday season.

While we were at the airport yesterday, AAA says driving remains the most popular way to get to friends and family.

Drivers will also find the lowest gas prices since 2009.

The national average price for a gallon of gasoline is under $2.

The holiday travel rush is considered to run from today through Sunday, January 3.
