WYNANTSKILL, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A suspect has been identified in the fatal stabbing of the troy city director of city operations Bill Chamberlain
Police say the 56-year-old community fixture was found stabbed and dying near his Wynantskill home Thursday night.
We were told he was out walking his dog near his home on Powell Street when he was attacked.
The suspect 28-year-old Joseph Vandenburgh is locked up on a parole violation.
He is not yet charged with chamberlain’s death.
“This is a horrible crime that happened. Again as I stated earlier, it doesn’t make a difference where it is whether it’s in a suburban town or in a city. This is a homicide it doesn’t get any worse than this,” says Chief Robert Durivage.
Police will continue to work all leads until they feel confident they can move forward with more charges in connection with this heinous act.
