ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – State workers earning minimum wage will be taking home a bit more in their paychecks in 2016.
The minimum wage increase is on track to take effect beginning December 31 of this year. State workers will eventually earn $15 an hour, but will be implemented in phases.
The wage will increase to $12 an hour in New York City and $10.75 in the rest of the state for the start of the New Year.
It will reach $15 dollars an hour in New York City by 2018 and by 2021 everywhere else.
This follows a statewide increase to $15 dollars an hour for fast food workers in New York.
