Teachers granted 4 year hold on evaluations based on common core

NEW YORK, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The Board of Regents has approved putting a four year hold on using common core test scores to determine teacher evaluations.

The moratorium was one of the items recommended last week by the task force assembled by Governor Cuomo to review the standards.

The panel also recommended rewriting the standards with input from New York teachers.

Without the moratorium, student performance on assessments would count for as much as half of a teacher’s grade.
