SCHENECTADY, NY (NEWS10) – The Schenectady Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a carjacking that occurred at approximately at 1:41 A.M. Friday morning in the area of 916 Norwood Ave.
The investigation has revealed that the victim, who works as a delivery person, was delivering food at the time of this incident.
As the victim was talking with his customers near his running vehicle, 42-year-old Paul M. Marruso jumped into the vehicle and tried to drive off. The victim, along with the assistance of the two customers, attempted to pull Marruso out of the vehicle.
Marruso proceeded to accelerate and dragged the victim along with him. Marruso then struck a parked vehicle and the front porch of 905 Norwood Ave causing damage.
Marruso was arrested and charged with:
One count of Criminal Mischief in the 2nd, a felony
One count of Grand Larceny in the 3rd, a felony
One count of Criminal Impersonation, a misdemeanor
One count of Reckless Endangerment 2nd, a misdemeanor
One count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th, a misdemeanor
One count of False Impersonation, a misdemeanor
Marruso was arraigned Friday afternoon and bail was set in the amount of $15,000/$30,000.
He was remanded to the Schenectady Count Sheriff’s Department. Additional charges are possible.
