Arraignment held in funeral home embezzlement scheme

ALBANY, NY (NEWS 10) – A man accused of stealing thousands of dollars from a local funeral home has pleaded not guilty.

Sam Catalano was arraigned in Albany County Court on Friday morning.

He’s charged with grand larceny, tax fraud, and filing false reports.

Investigators say Catalano managed three Parker Brothers owned funeral homes in Rensselaer County.

He and former Watervliet Police Chief Mark Fiet are accused of embezzling thousands of dollars from the company.

Fiet pleaded guilty earlier this month and agreed to testify against Catalano.
