Siena defeats Manhattan in conference opener

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Siena College tipped off conference play Friday night.

The Saints opened against two-time defending MAAC Champion Manhattan, a team that swept Siena last year.

But Siena stifled the Jaspers on Friday. The Saints won by 35 points with a final score of 89-54. Friday’s win was the fourth straight game with five players in double digits.

The Saints are now 5-3 on the season, 2-0 at home, and 1-0 in the MAAC.

“We’re just starting to play well together, and everyone’s, we’re getting good shots and our team doesn’t care who’s getting those shots as long as they’re good shots,” Brett Bisping said. “And I’m glad that we’re starting to figure that out. Hopefully, we’ll keep doing that.”

“We’re scoring a lot of points, but we’re turning the ball over,” head coach Jimmy Patsos said. “But we’re playing fast, and the kids like playing fast, and it was a great win.”
