NY lawmakers to review transportation spending

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — State lawmakers in New York are taking a look at the state’s investments in transportation.

At a public hearing Thursday, the state Assembly’s Transportation Committee plans to review spending on bridges, public transit, highways, rail and aviation.

The state is in the first year of a two-year, $7.5 billion plan covering the state’s investments in a range of transportation infrastructure.

Lawmakers say they want to get an update on how that plan is proceeding. The entire Legislature will return to Albany next month to begin work on next year’s budget, which would contain adjustments to the transportation spending plan.

Advocates for bicycling, aviation and mass transit are expected to address lawmakers at Thursday’s meeting in Albany.
