TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Additional, historic redevelopment is taking place in Troy.
People start moving in on Monday into Hudson Arthaus, new, upscale, affordable housing. On Friday, a grand opening of Collar Works Art Gallery will take place on the ground floor.
The new development hopes to extend the reach of Walkable Downtown Troy. Real estate development company Vecino Group partnered with the non-profit Collar Works to create the art gallery.
The project also includes 80 affordable housing units with one bedroom apartment starting under $800. Some of the units have views of the Hudson River.
Demetria Canty is the property manager.
“We have a wonderful art gallery,” she said. “We have a computer lab. We have, I think, they’re phenomenal, luxurious apartments.”
The building was built in 1896 as a historic factory that was used to produce shirt collars and cuffs.
Construction to turn the building next is expected to begin in a month or two.
