ONTARIO, CANADA (KRON) — A noble rescue attempt turned into a viral selfie with a majestic bird, and the picture has been shared around the world.
Two brothers recently saved a bald eagle, who had become trapped in Ontario, Canada. Michael and Neil Fletcher found the eagle caught in a metal hunting trap while driving through the woods.
They stopped to help and were able to pry open the trap just enough to free the eagle’s talon. Once they untangled everything, the pair took a selfie with the grateful bird.
Bald eagles have grown more plentiful in North America since being removed from the U.S. list of threatened and endangered species in 1987.
