CHICAGO (NEWS10) — Class is cancelled at the University of Chicago Monday after what police are calling a credible threat.
This threat was pretty specific. The University released a statement saying a threat from an unknown person was passed on to the FBI and the decision was made to cancel classes at the main campus.
The threat mentioned gun violence at the campus quad at 10 a.m. Monday. Faculty, students and non-essential staff are being asked to stay away from campus and students living in dorms there are being told to stay inside.
The University says they are using extreme caution in this situation.
Some area high schools in Chicago have also cancelled classes today as a precaution.
