Swinburne Rink in Albany opening delayed due to warmth

ALBANY, N.Y. – As a result of unseasonably warm weather, the City of Albany’s Swinburne Ice Skating Rink will open on Friday, December 4 – a week later than usual.

Officials say the extra week is needed to make sure the ice at the outdoor rink freezes.

When the rink does open, free parking is available at Bleecker Stadium next door to the rink. It’s open to people who want to free skate as well as to those who want to play hockey.

The Learn to Skate and a Learn to Play Hockey programs are now available free of charge for kids ages 5 through 9.

For information on the skating rink, you can call the main office of the Recreation Department Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 – 5 p.m.

Hours of Operation:

Monday-Thursday 3-5 p.m. & 7-9:30 p.m.
Friday 3-5 p.m. & 7-10 p.m.
Saturday 12:30.-5 p.m. & 7-10 p.m.
Sunday: Public Skating: noon-2 p.m. & 6:15-9:30 p.m.

Sunday: Learn to Skate & Play Hockey 3:15-5:45 p.m.

Admission and Rates

Under 18 – $.50
18 and over – $1
Senior citizens – $.25
Skate Rental – $3
Skate Sharpening – $5
