ALBANY, NY (NEWS 10) – New York State Police announced a brand new app on Monday aimed at helping everyday people here in the Empire State fight against terrorism.
“See something, send something” allows anyone to capture suspicious activity with a photo or written note and send the information to the New York State Intelligence Center.
From there, the tip will be reviewed and if relevant, sent to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
“The app actually gives you some tips on what might be suspicious, stuff that you should report,” NYS Police Superintendent Joseph DβAmico said. “It’s a great and easy tool everybody has a phone. We are trying to put it in the pockets of all New Yorkers.”
The app can be downloaded for free for iPhone and Android users.
It also includes information on what to look for and when to report suspicious activity.
The service is already available in Colorado, Louisiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
