KINGSTON, NY (NEWS10) – After losing their first three games of the season, Amsterdam won seven straight to claim a Section II title and they made a trip to Dietz Stadium.
The last time the rugged Rams were in Kingston, they went on to win a State Championship but they were still two wins away heading into Friday night’s game against Our Lady of Lourdes.
In the first quarter with no score, Bryan Stanavich got the pitch and this guy is dangerous, tough and fast and he showed why taking it to the house for a 65-yard run putting the Rams up 7-0.
In the second quarter, Trey Holloway rolled and hit David Crawford and he did the rest himself, dancing in the end zone to extend the rams lead to 14-6.
But the Lourdes came right back again, Dean Rotger with a bullet pass to Corey Mullay for a 28-yard touchdown to tie the game. They took a 21-14 lead into the half.
After another score, the Rams trailed 35-21. However, Dale Stanavich made it interesting going untouched for a 93-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to get back within a score.
