An appeal filed on behalf of a Niskayuna man was rejected on Thursday.
Clifford Burns was convicted of murdering his estranged wife on Christmas Eve in 2013.
Burns was sentenced to 23 years to life behind bars in September of last year.
Prior to sentencing, he asked to withdraw his guilty plea.
The decision said that given the overwhelming proof of Burn’s guilt, including eyewitness accounts, his original lawyer was reasonable when encouraging him to enter that guilty and accept a deal.
