GREENWICH, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Last Friday, the Greenwich football team captured the program’s first Section II championship since 1997.
This coming Friday, the Witches are going back to the broom again to sweep away its next opponent. Greenwich will face the Section X champions Governeur at Mohonasen High School.
The winner advances to the Class C semifinals next weekend.
The Witches have won all ten games they’ve played, and the players are confident in their ability. Both the players and the coaches plan on winning and keeping the ride alive.
“We’ve been winning all year, and as long as we keep playing our game and continue doing what we’ve been doing, I think we can go a lot farther,” senior quarterback Lukas Whitehouse said.
“We try to keep it one day at a time, one step at a time, get better every day,” head coach Brandon Linnett said. “That’s what we’ve talked about all year is getting better every day, and they’ve been able to do that. And we’ll find out Friday night if we take another step.”
