ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – As the cold weather moves in, shelters in the Capital Region are preparing to open their doors for those who need a warm place to stay.
Later on Tuesday there will be a press conference kicking off Albany’s Code Blue program at the Capital City Rescue Mission.
The program allows men and women to stay inside when the temperature is 10 degrees or less, without going through the normal intake program.
Last winter, more than 5,000 shelter beds were provided.
The event is happening at 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
