(NEWS10) – We have some sad news to pass along Sunday night.
The bald eagle named “Independence” that was rescued from the Mohawk River after it couldn’t pick up a fish has been euthanized.
The Eagle was less than three years old when the men rescued her.
Tests performed on the bird have shown it was in poor health so it was put to sleep to end its suffering.
The root cause of the birds poor condition was a failing liver along with a high white blood cell count and trauma to her head.
