LANSINGBURGH, NY (NEWS10) – In Rensselaer County on Sunday, nearly a dozen veterans were given “long overdue” medals for their time of service at war.
Local, State and Federal lawmakers gathered at the Veterans of Lansingburgh location on First Avenue.
Ten local veterans who served during World War Two, The Korean War, and the Vietnam War were formally presented with medals and recognition by Rensselaer County Executive Kathleen Jimino.
“This is an important ceremony for us to bring together our community and to thank these service members our veterans for their service and have the honor to give them the medals that are long overdue”, said Kathy Jimino.
So far, over two-hundred men and women, both dead and alive, have been recognized through a similar ceremony in Rensselaer County.
