New center helps vets transition to civilian life

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Student veterans at the College of Saint Rose now have a new center.

A ribbon cutting was held on Friday at the New York State Industries for the Disabled Inc.’s new, largest “Battle Buddy Center.”

The center’s goal is to help returning vets successfully transition from military to civilian life.

“I was medically discharged last year,” veteran and student Jessica Cislo said. “Nine years in the Navy. Didn’t know where to go. My husband is a veteran, too. He went to the College of Saint Rose, and he was like, ‘Look, they are there to support you. They are going to help you.’”

The center is housed in the college’s Cassey Hall at 947 Madison Ave.
