City of Albany works to end homelessness

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – November is Homelessness Awareness Month and groups in the area are making it their mission to put an end to it locally.

On Friday the Capital Region Coalition to end Homelessness and local legislative leaders gathered in Albany to kick off their new partnership. The meeting was held at interfaith partnership for the homeless’ new site which will soon be converted into a space for homeless people in Albany to turn to.

The group will be running a capital campaign to help fund some of the work that will eventually create five 1-bedroom apartments above the renovated space. Construction on the new site is set to begin sometime next year.

A group leader says she expects it to take a couple years to complete.
