SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Officials say a man who’s accused of shooting and killing a man last year has plead guilty to murder and assault.
Officials say Alexis Rodriguez pled guilty to Murder in the Second Degree and Assault in the First Degree in connection with the shooting death of Jose Sanchez on November 24, 2014 in the area of Bridge Street in the City of Schenectady.
According to officials, Rodriguez admitted to intentionally causing the death of Sanchez, who had been a friend of his, but with whom he had a dispute involving money loaned for the purchase of a car.
The guilty plea to the charge of assault arose from non-fatal injuries inflicted upon Sanchez’s brother at the time of the murder.
In exchange for his plea, Rodriguez will be sentenced to 20 years to life for his plea to murder in the second degree and 20 years, to run concurrently, for his plea to assault in the first degree.
Sentencing is scheduled for January 13 in Schenectady County Court.
