Police: Man arrested after threatening officers with sword

GREENWICH, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Greenwich man arrested after he alleged threatened police with a sword and then resisted arrest.

Police responded around 10:45 a.m. Monday to County Route 49 for a suicidal male with a sword. When officers arrived, they found 24-year-old Michael Bentley holding a sword and threatening himself and the officers.

According to police, Bentley eventually dropped the sword and resisted arrest by several officers before a Taser was deployed. Bentley was taken into custody without injury.

Bentley was charged with Menacing in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree and Resisting Arrest.

He was arraigned in Greenwich Town Court and was remanded to the Washington County Jail for lack of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
