Pumpkin Patrol goes into effect locally

COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Children and adults across the area are making final costume preps, and making sure their candy buckets are ready because tomorrow night is Halloween.

As you prepare for tricks, treats and spooky fun, local authorities are busy preparing to make sure everyone is safe while celebrating. On Glenmore Drive in Colonie, police will be out in full force both Friday night and Saturday making sure it’s a safe Halloween for everyone.

Some things they’ll be looking for are large crowds congregating in neighborhoods. Police say many of those people you’ll find are not wearing costumes are just out for mischief.

Something else being done to keep police is something the New York State Police have been doing for years. It’s called “pumpkin patrol.” They’re on the lookout for pranksters and monitor thruway overpasses to make sure no one is throwing anything.
