QUEENSBURY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The man accused of violently shaking his 3-month-old baby plead guilty to Assault charges.
Dillin Nelson pleaded guilty to one count of Assault in the Second Degree, according to Warren County District Attorney Kate Hogan.
Hogan said her office will ask the judge for a seven-year sentence when he is sentenced in December.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into physical injuries sustained by the infant following a medical examination at Glens Falls Hospital in January 2015. In February, Nelson admitted he violently shook his son numerous times in December and January.
Hogan said the baby is currently blind from his injuries, and it is unclear if he will recover. The baby was placed in foster care after his release from the hospital.
His mother, Courtney Miller, was also arrested and charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Police said she knew her son was in distress but waited nearly six hours to seek medical care.
