QUEENSBURY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Police say they arrested a man who allegedly stole several gallons of peanut oil from Five Guys and sped down Route 9 while drunk.
According to officials, around 9:51 p.m. on Wednesday, a 2001 Ford pick-up truck was observed speeding northbound on State Route 9 near the Great Escape. When police pulled the car over the operator, 34-year-old Joshua Hadden of Queensbury was intoxicated, and operating with a suspended New York State Driver License.
During the stop, officers discovered that Hadden was fleeing from Five Guys Burgers and Fries restaurant on Upper Glen Street in Queensbury after he was seen by employees of the restaurant stealing several gallons of unused peanut oil. The manager of the restaurant had called the Sheriff’s Office to report the theft moments after Hadden’s vehicle was stopped for the speeding offense.
Police say a chemical test showed Hadden’s B.A.C. to be .12%. He was issued tickets for speeding and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the third degree and also charged with DWI and Petit Larceny.
Hadden posted $500 bail and was released to appear in Queensbury Town Court at a later date.
