FORT PLAIN, N.Y. (NEWS10) — It’s a class that could save lives.

The New York National Guard and the State Division of Homeland Security will be presenting a free disaster preparedness class Thursday.

The program will provide citizens with the knowledge and tools to prepare for emergencies and disasters. It’s all part of Governor Cuomo’s continuing citizen preparedness corps training program which launched last February and has so far taught more than 45,000 citizens how to better prepare for emergencies and disasters.

It begins at 6 p.m. at the Fort Plain’s high school auditorium.
