ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – After 35 years of business, Spectrum 8 Theatres will be temporarily closing its doors next month while it transitions to a new owner.
Spectrum 8 announced on Facebook they will be selling their rights to Landmark Theatres Saturday morning.
“Landmark showcases much of the same type of programming that the region has come to expect from the Spectrum and therefore we feel that Landmark will serve our community well,” said Spectrum 8 Theatres.
Landmark is the nation’s largest theatre circuit dedicated to exhibiting independent and foreign films.
They will close on November 17 and re-open at the end of that week as Landmark.
Both the 3rd Street Theatre in Rensselaer and The Spectrum were opened by two couples, Sugi and Keith Pickard and Annette Nanes and Scott Meyer.
