Mets fans go crazy as team heads to World Series

ALBANY, N.Y (NEWS10) — Mets fans are rejoicing for the first time since 2000. Their team is heading back to the World Series.

A tough loss for Cubs fans also hoping their team would continue their banner season, the Mets swept the series winning 8 to 3 in game 4 Wednesday night.

Dicks is trying to accommodate the rush of fans seeking out new championship gear Thursday morning – opening its doors early.

Crossgates extended stores hours Wednesday night, which saw a big wave of customers after the game. NEWS10ABC caught up with one of the first Mets fans in the Capital Region to get his hands on some World Series merch.

“We’ve been waiting for so long to finally win the pennant, and here we are, World Series. We’re coming,” said Adam Coleman, Mets fan.

The doors just opened again this morning and there’s a lot of stuff on the shelves, but you can expect it to go fast.

The World Series will start on Tuesday, the Mets will play either Toronto or Kansas City, their series continues Thursday night, Kansas City has 3 games to 2 lead in the series.

NEWS10ABC will be there every step of the way, as the Mets try to win their first championship since 1986.
