STAMFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — One woman is dead after she was struck by a car door on Tuesday afternoon.
Stamford Fire and Police were called to the area of 2539 Bedford Street just after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday for a report of two pedestrians hit by a car. When they arrived, they learned an 84-year-old woman parked her 2001 Oldsmobile in the driveway of a condominium unit. She got out of the car and began talking with a neighbor outside of the car. Police say the car rolled backward down the sloped driveway and the driver’s door, which was open, struck the driver and the neighbor, knocking them both to the ground.
Both women were taken to Stamford Hospital. The driver was treated by Stamford Hospital’s Trauma Team, but died due to her injuries. Her identity has not been released.
The neighbor was treated for non-life threatening injuries and is expected to be released.
The accident is still under investigation. Anyone with information on this accident is asked to call police.
