Men plead guilty to trying to rob Quail St. business

ALBANY, NY – Officials say two men pleaded guilty Wednesday to attempting to rob a market in the city.

According to authorities Zachary Fairbanks, 27, of Albany, pleaded guilty to robbery in the first degree in Albany County Court this morning.

On October 1 Fairbanks’ co-defendant, Damien Rodriguez, also pleaded guilty to attempted robbery in the first degree.

On March 22 at approximately 1:57 a.m., while at the Quail Street Market located at 167 Quail Street, in the city of Albany, Fairbanks did forcibly steal money and cigarettes with the aid of Rodriguez. During the attempted robbery, Fairbanks displayed what appeared to be a firearm.

Fairbanks faces no more than 12 years determinate in state prison, to be followed by 5 years of post-release supervision, when sentenced on December 16.

Rodriguez faces no more than 7 years determinate in state prison, to be followed by 5 years of post-release supervision, when sentenced on November 19.
