Man charged with making secret recordings in restroom

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) – Authorities say a New York man secretly video recorded people, including children, using a public restroom at a western Massachusetts park.

Sam Wassilie, of Hudson, New York, pleaded not guilty in Berkshire Superior Court on Tuesday to 17 counts of videotaping nude or partially nude persons and five additional counts of videotaping sexual parts of children under the age of 18. He was held on $5,000 bail.

Authorities allege the 37-year-old suspect installed a recording device inside a public restroom in Pinegrove Park in Dalton between Sept. 14 and Oct. 26, 2014.

The Berkshire Eagle reports that he is already serving time in New York for similar charges.
