Tips: How to keep your memory sharp

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Ever feel like you’re memory is getting a little hazy?

That’s because as you age, the memory parts of your brain actually shrink, but a compilation of new studies offering ways to stay sharp.

  • Going for a 40 minute walk three times a week will help to increase the size of the hippo-campus; the part of the brain responsible for your memories.
  • Drink coffee. A study in Austria finds coffee can actually sharpen your focus and memory.
  • Studies show that laughing for about 20 minutes will boost your short-term memory.
  • Listen to music. Specifically Mozart. Researchers in Rome found the classical composer’s music increased brain wave activity linked to memory.
