SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS0) – Kids in Schenectady got a big gift on Monday.
A whopping $2 million is going towards the Call to Action for Schenectady’s youth. It’s a community wide plan to renew urgency and provide focus around how adults work with kids in schools, government, and community organizations.
The funding has been committed by the Schenectady foundation.
“Believe it or not, the young people in this community desire connections with positive adults who feel they are worth the time, energy and the effort.”
The three main areas of focus of the call to action are mentorship, youth employment, and civic involvement.
The foundation has already received several initial seed grants adding up to more than $560,000 dollars to help get the “call” off the ground.
