Vermont Police give boy with cancer extremely special day

BARTON, Vt. (NEWS10) – Members of the Vermont State Police were proud to participate in a Make-A-Wish in Barton and Derby.

Bennett Stenger has been struggling with 4 types of cancer, including leukemia. When Make-A-Wish contacted his family about what Bennett might like to experience, they said he loved VSP, and would like a ride-a-long.

Well, VSP commanders heard about this, and upped the ante a bit! Bennett and his brother Chase were made honorary Troopers, received uniforms, and rode in a cruiser, then a Marine Unit on Lake Memphromagog. As if that wasn’t enough, they then got to blow up pumpkins with the Bomb Squad, witnessed a TSU deployment, made an arrest, and controlled the bomb squad robots!

Hopefully he “busts” cancer for good.
