PITTSFIELD, Mass. (NEWS10) – The Pittsfield City Council passed a Styrofoam ban with several amendments Tuesday night.
Supporters of the ban argued that Styrofoam is harmful to the environment and shouldn’t be used in consumer products. But some business owners said the material is cheap and getting rid of it could be costly.
The vote passed 7-3.
The ban is set to take effect in July 2016.
