Schenectady PD respond to Steinmetz School after alleged prank call

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Police responded to a Schenectady career and learning school following a phone call that was determined to be a hoax.

Schenectady police received a call just before 2:40 p.m. Tuesday of a male with a gun in The Steinmetz Career and Learning Center School. The call originated from a school phone in one of the classrooms, according to police.

The school was placed on lockout, and the other schools in the area were alerted. A preliminary investigation determined the phone call was a hoax, police said.

Police identified the person responsible and criminal charges are expected to be filed. The name, age and gender of the suspect is not being released at this time.
